What parents should wear
My family portion of the newborn session is done with a fine art true to life style that is showcasing your newborn’s beautiful skin and small details. My goal as a photographer here in Columbus oh is to make a beautiful piece of art that you can completely remember your baby’s newness! To do that I like your clothing styling to be very neutral. Your baby is the star of our show. A few wonderful color pallets are in the photos above but pastels, neutrals, and no patterns are my biggest recommendations. I do have some styling pieces here in my studio that you are welcome to wear if styling is not your thing! I have linked several pieces that I think would photograph beautifully.
For male styling I like to be as simple and classy as possible. A crisp button down without patterns, a plain neutral or pastel tee shirt, or a classic sweater in a neutral tone are great choices. Most of our photos will be waist up, however, on occasion I do shoot babies from an above angle. Make sure your shoes go with the styling!
What baby should wear
I really have anything you could want for baby’s wardrobe however I do love babies to come in an outfit that may be something you would like for them to be wearing during the family portion of the session. Sentimental items such as stuffed animals bonnets or booties are always welcome. Baby should arrive fed and in fresh diaper. My studio is kept very warm so baby should be super cozy the entire session.
Other helpful things
Your hands will for sure be in the photos of the baby as I often pose with babies being held by parents and holding fingers. Make sure your hands and fingers are manicured. Also keep in mind for your newborn’s comfort I keep my studio very warm! I would not recommend thick layers as adults might get toasty! I do have water and tea here for parents!
